4D/3N Bali – The Gilis/Lombok – Bali

Beyond the tourist traps of Kuta and Sanur we can offer you the chance to explore this idyllic island. Our circumnavigation of the island can offer you the chance to visit and dive in some ideal locations. Across the narrow straights there is the opportunity to visit the Gilis and Lombok. Both offer beautiful white beaches and excellent snorkeling.

Viewed from the water you are able to see two of the most spectacular mountains in Indonesia – Gunung Agung on Bali and Gunung Rinjani on Lombok provide a breath-taking backdrop. Dolphins regularly play in the bow waves – always very exciting to watch.

This is a great cruise for those with limited time but the desire to experience some uninhabited islands, pristine beaches and spectacular scenery both above and below the waves. There will be plenty of time to relax and unwind and the flexibility to vary our plans according to your interests and wishes. A cruise of 4 days and 3 nights, departure and return from Bali.

Itinerary

Day 1. Serangan Port, Bali
A morning transfer will see you on board Bidadari for lunch. After settling in and familiarising yourself with your home for the next few days we will set off across the Lombok Strait. This stretch of water between Bali and Lombok marks a very important ecological boundary, first described by Sir Alfred Russel Wallace, the British naturalist. He noticed that the flora and fauna of the islands to the west are home to Asiatic animal and plant species, whereas the islands to the east of that “line” have a greater similarity to species found in Australia. We will anchor at one of the Gili islands with plenty of time to explore the pristine environment, swim, snorkeling and relax.

Day 2. The Gilis – Lombok
Start the day with a morning swim and then we will cruise around the Gilis stopping as the spirit dictates. There will be plenty of time to explore the corals reefs and isolated beaches. We will explore Gili Air where you can snorkel again, or just discover the island. With no cars or bikes, it’s a gentle one hour stroll to walk entirely around the island. We will head towards Mentigi Bay for an overnight stay.

Day 3. Tulamben shipwreck
There will be time to explore the inland areas of Lombok before we head off again across the straits towards Bali. We aim to anchor on the north-east coast in close proximity to Tulamben a small village and site of the wreck of the USS Liberty, a US Army transport ship torpedoed in 1942.

Day 4. Bali
There will be ample time to explore the wreck which lies only 25m off the coast, home to many varieties of sea life. We will have a leisurely trip along the north-east coast of Bali, exploring the coastal life and villages before returning to our anchorage and land transfers.
